10-year-old girl seriously injured after barrage of gunfire in Northeast D.C. (www.nbcwashington.com)

A 10-year-old girl was seriously injured after a bullet fired during “a barrage of gunfire” in Northeast D.C. on Sunday hit her in a car as her family headed home, authorities said.

Arianna Davis was shot in the upper body and was rushed to an area hospital. She is currently “fighting for her life,” Chief of Police Robert Contee said in an update Monday morning.

The search for the shooter or shooters is ongoing.
