15-year-old arrested after smashing police car with shovel in Florida
Police in Port St. Lucie, Florida, released video of a 15-year-old girl smashing a police car with a shovel during an encounter earlier this month.
Officers were responding to a disturbance at a home on Nov. 3 when they found the teen standing in the roadway holding a shovel. Body camera footage shows her walk up to a patrol car and slam the shovel into the hood multiple times.
As officers got out of the vehicle, they drew their Tasers and ordered her to drop the shovel. She was taken into custody.
Police say the teen caused over $1,200 in damage to the cruiser and was arrested for felony criminal mischief.
“Regardless of age, intentional damage to people or property in our city will result in an arrest,” the department said.
