GEORGIA – Two people were shot in the parking lot of McEachern High School in Cobb County Thursday afternoon, according to video and reports.
The two “young victims” were not students at the school, Cobb County Police Chief Stuart VanHoozer said during a news conference. They were taken to a nearby hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
The chief said the call of the shooting came in at 1:47 p.m. Multiple law enforcement agencies and EMS soon responded to assist the school district. He said there “was never an active shooter.”
Police are still looking for suspects.
All students are safe and were dismissed. The parking lot is still an active crime scene, and the public is being asked to avoid the area.
The campus had been under a code red, with police on campus, authorities said.
