Woman dead, teen injured in Capitol Heights gas station shooting

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Maryland — A woman injured during a drive-by shooting at a gas station in Capitol Heights has died of her injuries. Surveillance video shows the moment shots rang out.

Prince George’s County Police Department says the shooting occurred at around 7:15pm Tuesday at a BP gas station parking lot along the 6700 block of Walker Mill Road.

23-year-old Phajia Hutchinson — who was sitting in the front passenger seat of a white car at the time of the shooting — was struck by the gunfire and later died at the hospital.

A teenager was also shot, although police do not believe his injuries are life-threatening.

A woman who was standing near the driver’s side of the car said two children were in the backseat.
