HIGH POINT, North Carolina — A store clerk was shot multiple times following a dispute over beer Saturday night at a grocery store in High Point, police said.
High Point police responded to Apple Tree Grocery on East Green Drive at around 10pm Saturday in reference to an assault.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the 30-year-old store clerk suffering from gunshot wounds to his groin and legs.
The victim was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for treatment and is in stable condition, police said.
The shooting unfolded after officials said two men did not want to wait to pay for their beer at the cash register.
The men went into the beer cooler to persuade another employee to take their money.
Surveillance video of the incident shows the two male suspects arguing with the clerk in the cooler area. When the employee refused to take their money, one of the suspects took out a handgun from his waistband and shot the clerk multiple times, police said.
Both suspects fled the scene in a white Jeep Cherokee and remain on the run.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Detective Crump with High Point Police at 336-887-7877.
