3 dead, 9 injured in mass shooting at cookout in Philadelphia: video

PHILADELPHIA, PA — 3 people are dead and ten others were injured following a mass shooting at a cookout in Philadelphia’s Grays Ferry neighborhood.

The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. on July 7 on the 1500 block of South 27th Street.

Police said nine victims were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and three others were taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The fatalities include 3 males aged 19, 23, and 24. Among the injured were three minors, including a 15-year-old girl and two 17-year-old boys.

A 19-year-old male remains in critical condition after sustaining two gunshot wounds to the head.

Police recovered dozens of shell casings from the scene, and at least one person has been taken into custody. However, investigations are ongoing, and officials believe multiple shooters were involved.

Surveillance footage from Ring cameras captured gunmen firing indiscriminately into a crowd gathered for an early-morning cookout, prompting bystanders to dive for cover.

Authorities are urging community members to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation.
