37-year-old woman fatally shot in the face by ICE agent in Minneapolis

A 37-year-old woman was shot and killed by an ICE agent on January 7, 2026, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

DHS stated the woman used her SUV to try to strike ICE agents who were conducting “targeted operations” in the area. The agency said an officer fired his weapon, the woman was hit, and later died. DHS also said several ICE officers were injured and are expected to recover.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey publicly disputed the DHS description after reviewing video of the incident. During a press conference, Frey said:

“This ‘it was done in self-defense’ is garbage.”

“They are already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense. Having seen the video myself, that is bull**.”**

Local police said the woman was not the subject of any law enforcement operation. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said:

“There is nothing to indicate that she was the target of law enforcement activity.”

The SUV involved in the incident was later seen crashed into a light pole near Powderhorn Park, with a bullet hole through the driver’s side windshield.

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office confirmed it has jurisdiction to file charges against the ICE agent if investigators determine a crime occurred. No charges have been filed so far. The incident remains under official review.
