4-month-old baby dies after father launches him against wall during domestic violence incident in Kenya

WARNING DISTRESSING VIDEO: KENYA — A 4-month-old baby is dead after his father threw him against a wall during a domestic violence incident in Kenya.

The tragedy took place in Kihumbuini in Gatanga Village, according to local reports.

Disturbing video posted to social media shows the man identified as Mark Njuguna, beating his wife and whipping her with a belt before tossing the infant across the room. Four month old Richie Kiguro died shortly after.

According to a report filed at the Kihumbuini Police Station, Njunguna had raised suspicions about the child’s paternity which led to the conflict.

According to his wife, identified as Muthoni Kariuki, 23, Njunguna held her captive following the attack, threatening to kill her if she alerted authorities.

However at around 1:30am, Kariuki managed to escape as Njunguna slept, and alerted her father-in-law who notified police.

“My daughter-in-law ran to my house screaming that her husband had murdered their infant boy,” Stephen Njuguna said.

“We’re still stunned because we don’t understand why someone would commit such a horrific crime and murder an innocent child,” he added.

The suspect is being held at the police station pending further investigation.
