7 in custody after fight over food mix-up at San Antonio Whataburger
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A late-night fight at a Whataburger on Blanco Road near West Bitters Road ended with seven adults arrested early Sunday, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
The brawl reportedly began around 3 a.m. after a mix-up over food orders led to an argument between two groups inside the restaurant. Surveillance and cellphone footage captured the chaos as punches were thrown and people shouted across the dining area.
Police identified those arrested as Andres Garcia Cardenas, 21; Tyrone Tolliver, 21; Miguel Torres, 57; Meili Torres, 21; Andrew Lopez, 21; Deontae Tolliver, 23; and Veronica Valdez, 53. All seven were booked into the Bexar County Jail and are facing assault causing bodily injury charges.
A mother of one of the teens involved shared that her son suffered serious injuries, including a concussion, broken wrist, multiple lacerations, bruised organs, and bite marks. She said the attack went far beyond a misunderstanding and called for justice for those hurt in the altercation.
Their attorney, Roger Perez, said the family is not giving interviews at this time as the victims recover and the situation is reviewed.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be filed.
