7 people injured following leopard attack in India

Seven people were injured following a leopard attack in India, according to local reports and video.

“A leopard entered Hatwa village of Itwa police station area in Siddharthnagar on Monday. He attacked six to seven people of the village and left them bleeding. Those injured in the leopard attack are undergoing treatment at Etawah CHC. The leopard is still hiding in the village. The Forest Department team is doing rescue efforts to catch him but has not been successful yet. There is an atmosphere of panic among the villagers regarding the leopard.

Villagers of Hatwa village said that on Monday morning the leopard entered the village from the south side and attacked 80-year-old Udayraj who was sitting in the verandah of the house. Hearing the screams, the villagers gathered at the spot and the leopard started running away. During this time, the leopard attacked Sonu (24), Sharif (38), Taukir (12), Sameer (22) who came on the way and hid in a house.

When the villagers tried to surround the leopard with sticks, the leopard attacked them too. However, during this time the villagers fought the leopard with sticks and beat it. In this, the leopard also got a slight injury but could not be controlled and ran away and hid again in the verandah of a house.

On receiving information from the villagers, the Forest Department team is carrying out rescue operations to catch the leopard but has not been successful in catching it yet. Forest Range Officer Itwa Mohammad Ilyas Khan is present at the spot with the team. DFO Pushp Kumar has also reached the village. A net has been called from Balrampur to catch the leopard. Police station head Itwa Santosh Kumar Tiwari told that he is present in the village with the force. The forest department team is trying to catch the leopard. A net is being ordered from Balrampur to catch the leopard. He will be caught soon.”
