Airborne car crashes into Wendy’s restaurant, nearly hits family eating outside

Surveillance video shows the moment an airborne car crashed into a New Jersey Wendy’s restaurant Monday, nearly hitting a family that was eating outside.

The accident happened at around 1pm Monday — when a Toyota Corolla driving southbound on Route 130 near Melrich Road in South Brunswick suddenly went off road.

The car then hit a berm at the fast food joint, launching it into the air before crash landing into a 2017 Audi that was waiting in the drive-thru.

Both vehicles smashed into the restaurant and outdoor tables, nearly hitting a family eating outside, according to a statement released by police.

The impact shattered the windows of the restaurant, sending glass flying inside the burger joint. Despite the restaurant being crowded with customers and staff, no one inside was hurt, according to police.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Police believe he may have suffered a medical episode prior to the crash.
