HOUSTON, Texas – An alleged thief insulted and taunted a neighbor after crashing a stolen car off the side of the road, with the whole outburst (and the thief’s face) caught on camera.
A couple who allegedly worked in law enforcement woke up on Sunday morning to find that their 2024 Dodge Charger had been stolen.
Two hours after the Ring video was taken, a neighbor named Brad Reynolds heard the screeching of tires on a nearby street.
“I heard the squealing, squealing, squealing and I was like, ‘What was that?'” Reynolds said.
Reynolds went to the area he heard the noise and found the Dodge Charger halfway into a ditch off the side of the road with a man standing next to it.
Reynolds immediately pulled out his phone, started recording, and asked the man, “You were up here earlier doing all that?”
The man immediately reacted to Reynolds’ question by laughing and taunting him, and reportedly using a racial slur against him.
“Too bad you didn’t get my face!” the suspect can be heard saying in Reynolds’ video as he danced around in the street. “It’s stolen, haha haha, it’s a stolen vehicle!”
But Brad said the joke is on the suspect, not himself.
“I did get his face,” Reynolds said. “That’s quite a blooper there, I did get his face.”
The suspect even threatened Reynolds, saying, “I’ll be back for you. I know where you came from, I’ll be back.”
Reynolds told reporters that “it would be unwise to come back.”
Although Reynolds got a good look at the suspect and his camera captured multiple pictures of his face, police said they were still searching for the man who stole the Charger.
