Arkansas police arrest father for piercing son’s ear without a license

Viral video shows Arkansas police officers arrest a father after he pierced his son’s left ear without a license.

The Tonitown Police Department released a statement, saying their investigation started after officers were contacted by a school resource officer on Thursday.

According to police, the resource officer informed them that a teacher was concerned about a student in class who claimed his father “was drunk and put him in a chokehold and shoved the piercing in his ear.”

Tontitown officers went to the family home, where 45-year-old Jeremy Sherland admitted to piercing his son’s ear but refused to talk to them.

Police left and later returned with an arrest warrant issued by the prosecuting attorney for Washington County, Matt Durrett.

Video of the arrest showed four officers arriving at the house and Sherland being arrested.

After briefly resisting, multiple officers held Sherland against a wall and placed him in handcuffs.

Officers arrested Jeremy Sherland on suspicion of performing a body piercing on a minor under 16, endangerment of a minor and resisting arrest, according to the Tontitown police statement.
