Arrests made in West Bay Street shooting

SAVANNAH, Ga.—The Savannah Police have arrested Marquell Moultrie, 24, and Malik Moultrie, 23, in connection with an April 20 shooting on West Bay Street.  

Marquell is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during a felony, and possession of an illegal weapon.  Malik was charged with obstruction, party to a crime (aggravated assault), tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of an illegal weapon.

At around 2:20 a.m. officers responded to sounds of gunfire at West Bay and Jefferson Streets.  Upon arrival officers observed Marquell Moultrie with a firearm and acted to take him into custody.  While approaching the suspect, he dropped the weapon, which was picked by Malik Moultrie, who attempted to flee.  Both suspects were taken into custody on the scene.  One adult male was treated for a graze wound.

Simultaneously, officers responded to the 1100 block of East Waldburg Street regarding a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire while driving down Bay St.  The driver was treated for a minor graze wound.
