Attempted highway robbery in Chile fails after driver plows through suspect

A driver escaped an apparent kidnapping or robbery attempt on a highway in Quilicura, Chile, after running over one of the suspects during the confrontation.

The incident reportedly happened February 7 along Ruta 5 Norte in the northern Santiago metropolitan area, where criminals attempted an “encerrona,” a tactic commonly used in Chile in which vehicles block a driver’s path to force a stop.

Footage shared on social media appears to show multiple suspects positioning vehicles to trap another car on the roadway. As the situation unfolds, the targeted driver accelerates forward to escape, striking at least one of the individuals involved.

The condition of the suspect who was hit remains unclear.

No official police statement has been widely released yet, but local reports and online sources indicate authorities are aware of the incident and reviewing the video.
