Bodycam video released shows man fatally shot by Pima County deputy in Tucson

TUCSON, Arizona – Authorities released body cam video of a man fatally shot by a Pima County deputy during a break-in call earlier this month.

33-year-old Reinaldo Carballo-Morales was shot and killed on August 6 by Deputy Delmar Castillo, a two-year member of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the news release, deputies were called to a home near Roger and Flowing Wells roads at 11:15 p.m. that day regarding an attempted forced entry by an ex-boyfriend while a family member was inside.

Deputies entered the house after giving Carballo-Morales orders to leave in both Spanish and English and not getting a response, the news release said.

Deputies found Carballo-Morales in a bedroom and discovered he was armed with a knife. They ordered him to drop the weapon. Carballo-Morales disobeyed commands and moved forward towards the officers, which prompted Castillo to shoot him, according to the news release.

Deputies rendered aid to Carballo-Morales but he passed away at the scene. The family member inside the house was uninjured, the news release stated.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
