Authorities in Washington state have released surveillance footage showing a disastrous towing attempt that ended with a car slamming into a restaurant twice.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded on July 30 to a crash that caused significant damage to a restaurant entrance. Investigators determined a white Honda Pilot had tried to tow a red car from an AutoZone parking lot next door.
In the video, the tow strap appeared to snap during the first attempt, sending the red car rolling into the restaurant’s storefront. The driver tried again and successfully dragged the car across the lot — only for it to break loose and crash into the restaurant a second time.
A third attempt also failed, and the car was ultimately abandoned in the parking lot.
Deputies are asking for the public’s help in identifying the SUV and its driver. The incident is being investigated as a hit-and-run collision.
