Bounty-hunting YouTubers find body believed to be Kentucky highway shooter Joseph Couch during livestream

A body believed to be the remains of the man who shot and wounded five motorists on a Kentucky highway earlier this month was found Wednesday by a “bounty-hunting” couple during a YouTube livestream, state police announced.

According to Kentucky State Police and the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, investigators believe that the body is Joseph Couch, the 32-year-old suspect in the interstate shooting in Kentucky that left multiple people injured.

Kentucky State Police confirmed that the body was found in the “vicinity of exit 49 in Laurel County,” and detectives are working to confirm the identity of the body.

KSP said articles found on the body Wednesday afternoon and a weapon have been linked to Couch. KSP said it is still working to provide an official identification.

Investigators were not able to confirm how the person who was found died. The body will be transported Thursday to the Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort.

The couple behind the YouTube account “Hatfield McCoy Museum Adventures” was credited by Kentucky State Police for the discovery and will be awarded $15,000 from Laurel County Crimestoppers and $10,000 from a private donor.

The YouTubers and self-proclaimed “bounty hunters,” Fred and Sheila McCoy, were livestreaming their search for Couch through thick woods when they made the shocking discovery on camera.
