OREM, Utah — Video shows the moment Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was shot today while speaking at Utah Valley University.
Utah Valley University confirmed in a campus alert that a single shot was fired toward Kirk on Wednesday. The suspect was quickly taken into custody and the campus was shut down.
Video from the event shows Kirk speaking under a white pop-up tent during his “American Comeback Tour” when a loud bang rings out. He appears to recoil and hold his neck as the crowd scatters.
Turning Point USA said Kirk was shot and taken to a hospital. His condition has not been released.
According to the university, the shot came from a building about 200 yards away. Kirk was removed from the area by his security team.
The FBI is assisting local authorities.
Political leaders from both parties, including President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, Senator Mike Lee and Utah Governor Spencer Cox, condemned the attack and called for unity against political violence.
