Chicago cop attacked by group of subway riders on Red Line platform

Chicago, IL – A Chicago police officer was violently attacked by a group of subway riders while patrolling a Red Line station, according to newly surfaced video footage.

The incident took place at the 69th Street station on an unspecified date.

Video shows the lone officer being confronted by three aggressive individuals during a heated verbal exchange. One of the men swung at the officer, who narrowly dodged the punch but was struck in the ribs and knocked off his feet.

The officer got up, only to be surrounded again. One attacker hit him so hard he was knocked against a stationary train before falling to the platform. He eventually managed to escape to safety as backup officers and K9 units intervened.

Additional videos from the scene show more confrontations between police and unruly riders.

The Chicago Police Department has not commented on the incident.

Reports indicate the involved transit officers may have been unarmed, raising concerns about officer safety amid rising crime in the city.
