Child hit by gunfire as six suspects spray Baton Rouge house at 4AM
BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — A 13-year-old was wounded early Saturday morning after a group of gunmen opened fire on a home in Baton Rouge, according to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say the shooting happened around 4 a.m. on Daytona Avenue. Investigators believe six individuals got out of a dark-colored sedan before unloading multiple rounds into the residence.
The teenager, who was the only person inside the home at the time, was struck in the leg and taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities said the child is expected to survive and was not believed to be the intended target.
Law enforcement officials say the attack does not appear to be random, though they have not released details on a possible motive or suspects. No arrests have been announced.
The investigation remains ongoing as deputies work to identify those responsible for the shooting.
