Cyclist crushed by truck in the Philippines

PHILIPPINES – A 58-year-old man died when his bicycle was hit by a truck in Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City on Monday, Aug. 14.

Initial investigation disclosed that the victim was biking along the thoroughfare near the corner of the Quezon Avenue at around 12:15 p.m. when the incident happened.

Upon reaching a fast food chain branch along G. Araneta Ave., the front portion of an Isuzu truck driven by J. Diamante, 43, hit the victim’s bicycle from behind.

The victim fell from his vehicle and sustained a fatal head injury, police said. He was declared dead on the spot.

Responding police officers immediately arrested the truck driver and appropriate charges will be filed against him.
