Dashcam shows Turo renter crash owner’s Nissan LEAF in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Wash. – A man says his car was destroyed after a Turo rental ended in a crash that was captured on the vehicle’s dashcam.

The owner said he rented his 2013 Nissan LEAF to a woman on August 25 and later received a message that the car had been involved in a collision. The renter told him she had been run off the road and repeated that claim to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

However, the vehicle’s dashcam, which had been left connected during the trip, recorded the crash. The owner said he informed the renter beforehand that she could disconnect the camera if she wasn’t comfortable, but she left it running.

The footage now serves as evidence in the case. The owner says the car, which he had only rented out once before, is likely a total loss.
