WASHINGTON — D.C. police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted an officer in Southeast, D.C. on Tuesday, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Officials said that around 4:00 p.m., officers came across a man who was taking marijuana in a public space in the 2600 block of Birney Place. When officers approached, multiple suspects “assaulted” the officers, officials said.
One of the suspects was captured by surveillance camera, officials said.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, officials said. Police ask anyone who can identify the suspect or has information about the incident to call them at 202-727-9099. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible, officials said.
