Doorbell video shows High Point police nearly raid wrong home

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A doorbell camera video posted to Facebook shows High Point police preparing to enter a home in East High Point before realizing they had the wrong address.

In the video, officers are seen staging at a front door as one says, “It’s not right.” Another replies, “Yes it is.” The first officer then says, “No, it’s not. It’s 1616,” after which the team walks away. Less than a minute later, sirens and bangs can be heard as the team serves the warrant at a different house down the block.

The homeowner who posted the footage wrote, “Getting ready for work and my Ring goes off. High Point finest almost came into the wrong house … thank God for protecting me and my sleeping kids. I have never been this scared in my life!!!”

Police confirmed the video in a statement:

“On August 1, 2025 at around 5:30 a.m., members of the High Point Police Department’s SWAT Team executed a search warrant at a home on Seven Oaks Place as part of a drug investigation. The suspect also had an active warrant. Detectives seized two handguns, more than 61 grams of marijuana, more than five grams of ecstasy and more than $1,100 in cash. Initially, several members of the SWAT Team responded to a home a couple doors down from the house where they were to execute the search warrant. There are checks in place to verify addresses prior to enforcement action, and when officers realized they were at the wrong home, they left. The police department is aware of doorbell camera video showing officers at the wrong home. The timestamps on the video show officers arrived at the front door and left, all within 30 seconds. Officers never knocked on the door, rang the doorbell or spoke to anyone inside. Officers went on to successfully execute a search warrant and make an arrest, all in an effort to make the neighborhood more safe. Anyone with questions or concerns about an incident can contact the High Point Police Department and request to speak to a supervisor.”
