A truck driver was doused with the chemicals he was transporting following a leak from his tanker truck in China.
“The chemical transport truck was suspected of leaking, and personnel went to check and an accident occurred!
On November 13, after a video related to “A tank of gas was suspected to be leaking from a truck on a certain highway and yellow smoke was emitting” appeared on the Internet, the relevant departments immediately sent people to the scene to investigate and deal with it.
After investigation, the tanker in the video was a vehicle of a hazardous chemicals transportation company in Wuji County.
The transported cargo was “water purification agent” (ferric chloride, a corrosive substance) and was loaded with 30 tons.
At around 7 a.m., the vehicle was traveling from south to north to a location 500 meters southbound from the Gaocheng East Expressway exit. Smoke-like gas leaked from the valve on the top of the vehicle.
When the escort came forward to check the cause, the valve was opened and columnar gas was sprayed out. No casualties were caused. The escort then promptly closed the valve to a safe state and drove to the destination, where unloading was completed at around 9 a.m. The cause of the leak was initially determined to be blockage of the valve vent hole.
An investigation was launched into the companies and vehicles involved and dealt with them in accordance with the law.”
