10-year-old girl playing on side of road ran over by drunk driver in Argentina.
“A ten-year-old girl was hospitalized after being run over this afternoon by an individual who was driving under the influence of alcohol in the town of Punta Lara, located near this capital.
The man had a blood alcohol level of 2.44g/l and was carrying three bottles of whisky. Authorities also said that the suspect was hostile towards the police at the time of his arrest.
The minor was admitted to the Cestino Hospital in that town, with a fractured femur, chest trauma and bruises on the head, although she is out of danger.
The driver, identified as José Báez -44 years old- was driving a blue Renault and witnesses said he was performing dangerous maneuvers before colliding.
At the time of his arrest, Báez tried to escape from the scene and was eventually captured by the authorities on Almirante Brown and 144 streets in Punta Lara.
Sources of the case indicated that he was transferred to the second police station, and the case is being processed in the 10th Prosecutor’s Office for Culpable Crimes in La Plata.”
