Video shows a moment when an elephant tramples mahout to death during a mosque ceremony in India.
An elephant went on a rampage at a mosque in Kerala’s Palakkad district, killing its mahout and injuring another person, the police said on Friday. The incident unfolded during a ceremony on Thursday around 10.30 pm at a mosque in the Kootanadu area.
According to eyewitnesses, the elephant named Vallamkulam Narayanan Kutty, attacked his mahout, identified as 42-year-old Kunjumon Ibrahim, during the annual ‘nercha’ ceremony organised to commemorate the saints laid to rest at the Koottanadu Shuhada Makham (mosque).
The elephant was eventually restrained and moved from the location, the police said.
