Female firefighter falls to her death during rescue training in Argentina

A female firefighter and volunteer fell from a tower to her death following a harness failure during rescue training in Argentina.

Local police say the tragedy unfolded at around 4:30pm Saturday inside a fire department in Yapeyú de Saénz Peña, Chaco Province.

Officials say the woman was training for rescue at heights when they believe her harness suddenly gave way or malfunctioned, causing the woman to drop 15 meters below.

Ana Rosa Acosta, 45, was taken to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries following severe head trauma.

An investigation into the exact cause of the accident is underway.
