Female protester ran over by SUV in Riverside: video

RIVERSIDE, CA — Police are investigating a hit-and-run after a speeding SUV plowed into a group of demonstrators during a “No Kings” protest on Saturday night, striking and critically injuring a 21-year-old woman.

The incident occurred shortly after 9:00 p.m. on University Avenue between Main and Orange streets.

Video footage shows protesters approaching and attacking a black SUV, which then drove into the crowd and fled the scene, pursued by bystanders.

The victim, identified as Alexa Carrasco, was protesting with her family when she was struck. Friends say she suffered a cracked rib, a punctured lung, a broken leg, and serious skull injuries. She has been placed in a medically induced coma as she prepares for a second surgery.

Riverside police are searching for a driver.
