BRADLEY, Fla. – Deputies in Polk County are searching for a man accused of knocking out a convenience store clerk with a 2-liter bottle of soda.
The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Seven Star store on Old Highway 37. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said 30-year-old Terry Lamar Johnson Jr. walked in with two other men and accused the employee of staring at him.
When the clerk told Johnson to buy his items and leave, the two exchanged heated words. Deputies said Johnson then threw a full, unopened 2-liter bottle of Orange Crush at the clerk’s head, knocking him unconscious.
The victim suffered a deep cut above his right eye that required stitches and also appeared to have a concussion.
Johnson and the two men left the store after the attack. Surveillance video captured the assault, and deputies have issued a warrant for Johnson on a felony battery charge.
