NEW YORK – Harrowing video shows the moment 23-year-old Jevaughn Jeminson was shot 13 times to his death outside a nightclub in Queens last April.
Now police have arrested and and charged with murder one of the two shooters accused of pumping 13 rounds into the Florida man.
Christopher King, 31, a native of Long Island, was apprehended in Georgia on August 16 and extradited back to New York, where he was charged with Jevaughn Jeminson’s shooting death, the Queens District Attorney’s Office announced on Friday.
Prosecutors said that on April 8, at around two in the morning, King and a still-at-large accomplice fired twenty shots at Jeminson outside Pure Lounge nightclub in St. Albans.
Just minutes before the fatal altercation, the suspects were inside the club with Jeminson.
Prosecutors stated that Jeminson left Pure Lounge at about 2:05 am, and the two alleged gunmen followed him out.
King pulled out a gun while the second suspect briefly exchanged words with Jeminson before pulling out his own firearm and shooting at the victim, the district attorney’s office said.
Prosecutors said that as Jeminson fled around the corner, the two gunmen pursued him and fired multiple shots before he fell to the ground.
King’s accomplice approached Jeminson on the ground and reportedly continued shooting.
After walking away for a few seconds, he came back and fired more shots into Jeminson, prosecutors said.
The victim was left bleeding on the pavement as the incident unfolded.
Jeminson was rushed to Jamaica Hospital where he died.
Jeminson was struck four times in the stomach, twice in the head, once in the face, four times in the back, once in the upper chest, and once in the arm, the district attorney’s office said.
King has also been charged with reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon during his arraignment Friday. If convicted, he faces 25 years to life.
