Orange County, FL — On May 16, a SWAT raid ended in the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Tyrone Bartley during a drug warrant execution at his Pine Hills home.
According to the OCSO, body camera footage shows deputies entering the home and encountering Bartley, who initially complied with commands but then moved toward a bedroom door behind which a rifle was later found.
Inside the home, officers seized 370 grams of fentanyl-laced cocaine, two handguns, and a rifle. Sheriff John Mina defended the use of SWAT, citing the known presence of weapons and drugs.
Bartley’s family disputes the official story, claiming he wasn’t reaching for a weapon. His girlfriend called on deputies to “admit you made a mistake.”
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating. The deputy involved has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome.
