Fugitive escapes during transport at Seattle-Tacoma Int’l Airport

SEATTLE — New video shows the moments a fugitive escaped custody while at an airline ticket counter at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) earlier this week.

Sedrick T. Stevenson, 28, was under the custody of a prisoner transport company at the time of his escape, which was responsible for taking him to Bowling Green, Kentucky, in connection with several warrants.

Around 11 a.m. Sunday, the transport agent and Stevenson were standing at the ticket counter when the agent turned his head and Stevenson took off running.

Video shows the agent gives chase, but collides with a woman who was in the ticketing area, and both fall to the ground. The agent quickly gets up and runs after Stevenson.

Additional videos show Stevenson run down a corridor from the airport parking garage to the light rail station.

Police said Stevenson boarded a Link train to get away from the agent, who had lost sight of him. Stevenson exited the light rail at the Capitol Hill station in Seattle and hasn’t been seen since.

SEA officials said private prisoner transport companies are not required to notify the Port of Seattle Police when they are moving people through the airport, but police can assist if requested.

Stevenson was handcuffed with his hands inside the pockets of a sweatshirt when he escaped.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office in Kentucky said the agency obtained an extradition warrant for Stevenson for failing to appear for a jury trial on charges of assaulting a police officer, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, forgery, and drug charges.

Stevenson previously escaped law enforcement in Nashville in 2022 and was captured after a manhunt.
