BRUNSWICK, Ga. – The Glynn County Police Department released body and dash camera video footage Saturday of a Thursday arrest in which a man was body slammed by an officer. The arrest was also captured on video by a bystander and posted to social media.
Glynn County Police officer Dustin Shipskie responded to the corner of Altama Avenue and Altama Connector Thursday afternoon when two women told police they were concerned about a man who was yelling and cussing in the roadway.
Shipskie arrived and was confronted by the man, police said on Friday, which led to the altercation that was posted to Facebook. The man, Stanley James Jackson Jr., 46, of Glynn County, was arrested on a charge of felony obstruction following the incident.
Police said Shipskie attempted to de-escalate the situation but Jackson did not comply, leading to the body slam that was posted.
The police department said that it released the videos in the interest of transparency.
