Good Samaritan struck and killed while attempting to stop carjacker in Lumberton: video

NORTH CAROLINA — Video shows the moment a good Samaritan from Fayetteville was struck and killed attempting to stop a carjacking in Lumberton.

The video hit social media this weekend though the incident took place last month.

The footage shows 38-year-old Jonathan Adam Lecompte in a construction vest come up to the side of a tow truck and point what appears to be a gun at Ricky Alex Driggers, 28.

Gunshots ensue and Driggers reverses quickly, speeding away from Lecompte before rushing back at him and mowing him down.

Driggers was charged with first-degree murder, larceny of a motor vehicle, fleeing to elude arrest and two counts of attempted common law robbery.

Lecompte was pronounced dead at the hospital.
