GRAMBLING, La. —Grambling State University Police are investigating an incident involving a gun on campus.
According to a news release issued by the university, the “firearm-related incident” was reported near Bethune Hall around 1:46 p.m. on Wednesday.
Campus police responded and placed the university on lockdown as a precaution. The lockdown was lifted at 4:04 p.m.
According to a statement issued by the university, there were no injuries reported, and the suspects have been identified.
The university issued the following statement regarding the incident:
“The investigation is ongoing in coordination with law enforcement. There is no ongoing threat to campus safety. The safety of our students, faculty, and staff is always our top priority,” said Grambling State University President Martin Lemelle, Jr. “I want to commend the Grambling State University Police Department for their swift and professional response, as well as express my sincere appreciation to the law enforcement agencies that provided their support.
