Gunmen leap from stolen Mercedes, open fire on Plantation home

PLANTATION, Fla. – A Plantation neighborhood was shaken by gunfire Wednesday after four armed men jumped from a stolen SUV and opened fire on a home, police said.

The shooting happened just after 12 p.m. on the 4800 block of Northwest First Street. Surveillance video shows four people exiting a blue-grey Mercedes Benz GLE 450 coupe and firing multiple shots at a rental home.

Investigators said the SUV, bearing a Florida license plate, had been reported stolen out of Miami Gardens. Plantation police believe the suspects are connected to another shooting that occurred about 45 minutes later on Interstate 95.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, shots were fired from a Mercedes SUV at a grey BMW and a white Dodge Ram.

Neighbors said they initially mistook the gunfire for a car backfiring. Plantation police said the people inside the rental house are not cooperating with investigators but confirmed they are all from Miami Gardens.

The investigation into both shootings remains ongoing.
