Guns stolen in smash-and-grab burglary in Virginia, suspects arrested in Maryland

SPRINGFIELD, Va. — Police in Fairfax County are investigating after a gun shop was damaged in a break in and multiple guns were stolen. Two teenage suspects were arrested shortly after the break-in in, while a third remains at large.

Officers responded to Dominion Defense at 7200 Fullerton Road around 1:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a burglary. Upon arrival, police found the store’s front gate smashed in and windows damaged. According to a police spokesperson, multiple suspects broke into the store, stole firearms, and fled in a vehicle.

Authorities have confirmed that 21 firearms were stolen—19 handguns and two long guns. So far, law enforcement has recovered 13 of them, leaving eight still missing.

Montgomery County police stopped the wanted vehicle and took two 16-year-olds into custody. A third suspect fled in a different direction and remains unidentified. Officers also recovered a stolen Toyota Tacoma in the area and are now searching for a Hyundai Tucson with federal license plates, which may be connected to the case.

“We were able to get the majority of those guns back in our hands,” a spokesperson for the Fairfax County Police Department stated. However, efforts are ongoing to locate the outstanding firearms and identify the third suspect.

This is not the first time Dominion Defense has dealt with stolen guns.

In May of 2023, a group stole more than 50 guns from the shop. Several people were arrested and two people were sentenced to nine years in prison for the crime, which was caught on camera at the time.

It remains unclear if Dominion Defense plans to enhance security measures following this latest break-in.
