HIALEAH, Fla. — Surveillance footage has been released showing the moment 55-year-old Pedro Blanco fatally shot 33-year-old Yeondris Campos during a parking spot dispute at a Hialeah apartment complex on May 13.
The video, taken from Blanco’s own security system, shows him walking out of his apartment with a gun wrapped in a plastic bag. He then approaches a nearby unit and knocks on the door. When Campos and another person open it, Blanco fires a single shot, killing Campos instantly.
Police say Campos had parked at the complex near NW 62nd Street and East 7th Avenue and was visiting a friend when the shooting occurred. Family members say he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Blanco has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond. His trial is scheduled to begin on September 15.
