Lewisburg gas station clerk fatally shot during robbery

LEWISBURG, Tenn. — A gas station clerk was shot and killed during a robbery in Lewisburg Monday night.

The shooting occurred at the Marathon gas station on Mooresville Highway, where the victim, identified as Paresh Patel, was working a late shift.

According to surveillance footage reviewed by investigators, a man entered the store under the guise of making a purchase before drawing a firearm. Patel complied with the demands, raising his hands and handing over cash from the register.

Despite his cooperation, the suspect shot him, briefly left the scene, and then returned to fire additional shots while Patel was on the ground. He died at the scene.

Police have arrested David Hamilton in connection with the shooting. He has been charged with criminal homicide, and authorities say additional charges may follow. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting Lewisburg police with the case.
