NEW YORK – A group of young people are violently burglarizing Queens homes—and their victims include a man who was beaten with a hammer and stabbed in the back.
The group of at least nine suspects has been linked to two burglaries since New Year’s Day, the NYPD said as they released video Friday showing them forcing their way into a home.
Both burglaries—in the early morning hours of Jan. 1 and Jan. 5—were at residences along 147th Place in Jamaica, according to cops.
In the first burglary, police said the group broke a living room window around 3 a.m. and entered a home, where they stole a $25,000 bracelet. No injuries were reported.
In the second break-in, they smashed a front window with a hammer around 1 a.m. and attacked a 37-year-old man inside the home, police said.
They bashed the victim with the hammer and stabbed him in the back with a cutting instrument before stealing jewelry and clothing from the residence, according to police.
The victim suffered a puncture wound to the back and was transported by EMS to New York-Presbyterian Queens in stable condition.
The suspects were last seen fleeing in a gray Toyota Sienna minivan.
