Man armed with knife shot and killed by Bellevue officers

BELLEVUE, Wash. — Bodycam footage of the fatal shooting of a Bellevue man was released as the investigation into the December incident continues.

On Dec. 9, 2024, Bellevue police officers were dispatched to a Factoria neighborhood for a report of harassment with a knife.

In the video, you can see at least three officers at the scene as they make contact with 67-year-old Daniel Kerr. Kerr, according to police, was holding a knife in one hand and garden shears in another.

The officers try to de-escalate the situation, which includes the use of Tasers. The Tasers, however, were ineffective.

Kerr is seen in the video charging one of the officers. There is a brief struggle and another officer shoots Kerr.

The King County Independent Force Investigation Team identified the officer who shot his rifle as Officer Woo. Woo, whose first name was not provided, has been with the police department for about three years.
