Man arrested after stabbing another man in random attack in El Paso

EL PASO, Texas — A man was arrested after reportedly stabbing another man in what appears to be a random attack in far east El Paso.

Police arrested 23-year-old Jorge Miguel Perez who is a Horizon City resident.

The stabbing happened on Sunday on the 14000 block of Tierra Leona around 3 p.m.

When police arrived, they found Perez being held down by several people in the front yard of a residence.

Police also met with the victim a 56-year-old man, who had been stabbed multiple times.

The preliminary information is that Perez knocked at the door of a residence on Tierra Leona Street.

Perez walked away after the residents did not answer the door.

A short time later, Perez returned, and when the victim answered the door, Perez requested to speak to someone who did not reside at that address.

Perez then began to stab the victim several times.

The victim and other people in the residence began to fight Perez in an attempt to take the knife away from him.

Perez was subdued until police arrived.

The victim and Perez were taken to the hospital.

The victim received non-life-threatening injuries.

Perez was released from the hospital and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $150,000 bond.
