STEARNS COUNTY, Minnesota — A man was arrested and charged after he intentionally crashed an SUV into a Cold Spring family’s home.
Police say the suspect, 32-year-old Benton Beyer, placed a large granite stone on the accelerator pedal.
According to the St. Cloud Times, a man in the 300-block of 3rd Avenue South reported his SUV was stolen at around 5:30am Saturday morning — and he believed Beyer took it.
About five minutes later, the SUV crashed into the Robinson’s house.
Inside the SUV, a teddy bear also hung from a noose, according to photos shared by the homeowners, Andrea and Phil Robinson.
Andrea Robinson, who is married to a black man and has black children, said Beyer had been stalking them for weeks prior to the crash.
On May 21, Stearns County court issued a harassment restraining order that prohibited Beyer any contact with Robinson for two years.
Since, he’s been charged four times with violating the restraining order.
Robinson also made headlines in May after she went public about targeted racist online attacks against her children.
Police say that in two months, they’ve received 18 calls about Beyer either harassing or stalking the family.
Beyer was arrested several hours after the crash Saturday after police found him walking near Alexander Park.
He was charged with felony theft, stalking, first-degree damage to property with potential risk of bodily harm and violating a restraining order, according to Stearns County Court documents. Robinson also made headlines in May after she went public about targeted against her children.
