Man killed in shootout with deputies following pursuit in Minnesota: bodycam

DULUTH, Minnesota — Authorities have released body camera and squad video showing a deputy-involved shooting that left a suspect dead following a police pursuit.

The incident happened shortly before 9:45 p.m. on February 10, 2025. Deputies attempted to stop 30-year-old Donald Felver III for erratic driving on Grand Avenue, but he fled, leading officers on a pursuit.

Following a successful PIT maneuver, deputies exited their patrol vehicles and issued commands as they approached Felver’s vehicle. Officials say Felver then fired gunshots from inside the vehicle toward deputies. Sgt. Berndt and Deputy Sobczak returned fire, striking Felver, who was the sole occupant.

Felver was pronounced dead at the scene. No deputies were injured.

Investigators recovered a handgun and spent shell casings from inside the vehicle.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the use of force and will submit its findings to the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office once the investigation is complete.
