PEORIA, Ill. – An attempted getaway in Peoria took an unexpected turn Wednesday when a man on a stolen motorcycle ran out of gas in the middle of a police chase.
According to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, deputies tried to pull over the motorcycle after noticing it had no registration. Instead of stopping, the rider — identified as Donald Shaw — hit the gas and took off.
The chase didn’t last long. Deputies say Shaw’s bike sputtered to a stop when it ran out of fuel. Dashcam video released shows him trying to push himself forward by pedaling with his feet, cartoon-style, before deputies caught up to him.
Shaw was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including felony warrants, fleeing and eluding, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
No one was hurt in the chase.
