On May 28, 2025, a tragic double homicide occurred at a restaurant in the Laguna de Ayarza recreational center, located in El Portezuelo, San Rafael Las Flores, Santa Rosa, Guatemala.
Surveillance footage reveals that around 2:46 PM, a man dressed in light blue jeans and a dark shirt ascended the restaurant’s stairs and approached a couple seated at a table. After observing the woman briefly, he drew a firearm and opened fire.
The male victim, identified as 32-year-old Jaime Antonio Lima Ramírez, also known as “Jimmi,” was a U.S. citizen from Indiana with Guatemalan roots in San Miguel, Mataquescuintla, Jalapa. He had arrived in Guatemala approximately a month prior. His partner, Gabriela Montserrat, attempted to shield him but was also shot. Both victims succumbed to their injuries.
Authorities are investigating the incident as a possible crime of passion, though the exact motive remains under investigation. The assailant fled the scene, and law enforcement is actively seeking information to apprehend the suspect.
