CHICAGO — A man was shot and killed in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood nearly two weeks ago, according to video and reports.
The Chicago Police Department is seeking to identify a group of individuals connected to the murder.
According to CPD, the homicide happened in the 8600 block of South State Street at around 4:10pm on Wednesday, July 26.
Police originally said a 31-year-old man, later identified as Anton Benoit, was standing in the lot of a business when unknown offenders exited a dark colored SUV and opened fire on him.
Benoit, who CPD said was also hit by the SUV, was shot several times and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Video shows the suspects pulling into a gas station, riding in a black Dodge Durango with black rims.
After driving closely by a silver vehicle, the Durango stops just before pulling back out of the gas station. The driver and two passengers then exit the Durango armed with guns, and open fire toward the silver vehicle before jumping back into the Durango and driving away.
