Man shot by suspected car burglars in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Police Department is investigating a car theft that left one man injured.

According to MPD, officers responded to an aggravated assault call on Clearwood Road on Thursday just after 5 a.m.

When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim, who told them he was shot as suspects were stealing his 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe.

The victim’s wife told police that she was working from home when she received a notification from her camera that someone was in her driveway. She informed her husband that someone was outside in the driveway.

The victim then stepped outside of his front door and observed four male suspects taking his vehicle; the victim approached the suspects, and then they began to fire shots.

MPD says that the victim was struck twice in his right foot. The victim, then, told police that he saw a white Nissan driving northbound on Clearwood following his vehicle.

The victim called the police, who arrived along with the Memphis Fire Department; MFD transported the victim to the hospital to treat the injuries to his right foot.

The victim’s wife and children were inside the home when the suspects began shooting.
